CGCEO Associated Labs

GIS/Health

This lab focuses on land use and cover modeling, emphasizing both spatial modeling activities and human and environmental health research. These are major components in addressing the interactions between society and the environment

REAL

The Remote Environmental Assessment Lab

Human Dimensions

This lab is designed to enhance the social analysis of spatial and temporal patterns observed from remote sensing and GIS analysis, and to focus on socioeconomic drivers and consequences of global environmental changes. This includes research analysis on the interactions of human activities (socioeconomic infrastructure, policy, culture, etc.) with environmental factors such as land use and land cover change, and climate variability

Remote Sensing

The major function of this lab focuses on the development of remote sensing technologies to transform satellite imagery into a suite of information products including land use and land cover, water qulaity indicators, and carbon stacks of terrestrial ecosystems, using both space- and ground-based sensing technologies

Biodiversity

This lab invesitgates the effect of land-cover change on:

  1. Patterns of biodiversity; and
  2. The processes which determine the biodiversity in an area.

We concentrate on tropical ecosystems, and engage in outreach to school and community groups

CLIP

The overall objective of Climate-Land Interaction Project is to understand the nature and magnitude of the interactions of climate and land use/cover change across East Africa.
